MOM:

I WAS GONNA CALL,” emily began, a smile crossing her lips as she set her keys on the table next to the door and crossed the room, “but my cell died —– and i figured it might be nice to just show up without calling,” she shrugged. “i ate lunch a few hours ago,” more like six now that she thought about it, and a bagel that she’d saved from breakfast didn’t actually count, did it? “so dinner sounds great,”

Juliet knew her mother was busy,
and that he was better off not to
worry. Yet she did. Just knowing
that her mothers cell had died
made her feel silly for worrying
so much. Her mothers job was
        dangerous, Juliet had always
known that. A soft smile came
from her lips as she turned to
grab a plate from the cupboard.

“I made this pizza, from scratch.
Guess school is good for something.”
