“No, I don’t think so. I mean, I would hope not. It’d be kind of bad if a FBI agent flipped out over having a splinter, don’t you think?”
Her playful tone remains and her smile grows wider hearing the laugh in Juliet’s voice.
“I know I have tweezers around here somewhere. Once I find them, we can use them to get it out.”
“It would be quite humorous if you ask me. especially if it was Dad, or Uncle Derek.”
T he young Hotchner girl spoke, a snort of laugh parting from her lips even at the thought. Maybe she was being a tad bit over dramatic. The splinter had just caught her off guard, not having one for such a long while makes you forget how much of a pain they can be. Placing her hand onto the desk Juliet watch JJ in search of some tweezers to help out the younger girl.
“I also heard that baking soda and vinegar works to get splinters out. if we cannot find those tweezers.”
As the bag is handed over with a startled expression melting into a playful one, he peels back the brown paper to reveal the colored plastic of his favorite soda - Derek at least has the decency to look sheepish. Oh. It seems they were all off the mark with that one - he remembers Emily saying something about suspecting Juliet needed to spread her w i n g s but apparently, as far as teenagers are concerned, she’s more her father than her mother. He knows Prentiss had a wild streak back in the day.
His eyes sweep up to meet hers, looking at her over his brow, and he manages a - still sheepish - smile.
“Pizza’s on me?” he offers, amusement lacing his tone.
Unlike most teenagers Juliet had actually never once snuck out of the house. She had never had or went to a wild party that was later broken up by the cops. Juliet was a scholar student when it came to school. She worked hard, got good grades. She even would say she was preparing for college, even with a good two and a half more years of school left. Was Juliet perfect, by no means nobody was perfect. Juliet gave Derek a nob agree to the pizza he was offering after assuming she herself was hosting a party. A nod coming from Juliet before she spoke again.
“Sounds good to me, I mean who doesn’t like pizza? It’s the best kind of food.”
“Good plan. Hope I’m not giving away a trade secret but I don’t think there’s any such thing as dad school.”
“Oh, well good. I’m glad that’s not a real thing. If it was I don’t even what know kind of stuff they would teach. My mom and dad are scary enough on their own.”
Aaron nodded thoughtfully, pausing to take a long, slow sip of his water. Sometimes he didn’t stop long enough to appreciate the simple things in life, like how nice it was to have cold water, or the time he had to talk to his daughter.
“Sure.” He rose from the table, taking his dishes to the sink. He began washing them, pondering what she’d be interested in. “Do you have any interest in going to the firing range? The Bereau allows for Agents to bring their families, i could teach you some good tactical basics if you’re interested.” Aaron was once S.W.A.T., making him more than qualified to be a Weapons Instructor for his daughter. If she was interested, that was.
Juliet stayed quiet now as her father spoke to her. She liked the time that she spent with her father. She enjoyed any time she was that she was able to spend with either of her parents. They both worked really hard and long hours. Nights and weekends away, birthdays missed and celebrated at a later date. The times that they were home were times that Juliet enjoyed the most. Having drifted off into her own thoughts now, Juliet looked up quickly at her father question. Not once had she ever considered such a thing. Yet she was opposed to the idea of going to the range. Though scary and deadly, there has always been guns in the house where the now teenager had grown up in.
“I mean, if you’re sure that is okay. We could totally go spend some time here.”
“ I need you to explain to me in DETAIL, what ‘appened. if you feel more comfortable writing it down, I can grab ya some paper and a pen. we can do this however you want…. but I need to know what you saw. ”
Exhaling slowly Juliet tried to gathered her scattered words. Only to be find them drifting off farther from her. As if the sudden event had happened weeks prior than only moments before. Sighing softly Juliet stayed silent, re-constructing her words.
“It was all so fast. I’m sorry, I am trying, really I am.”
A broad smile tugged at the corners of the mop headed blondes lips as he took a handful of books from the brunette. “Nah, I’ll be fine. I may get yelled at for being late but nothing too major.”
Carefully tucking the stack of hard back books into the crook of his arm; Henry examined the brunette closer a startled gasp emitting from his now parted lips. “Hey! I know you! You’re parents they work with my mom and dad. Juliette right? I’m Henry.”
It was a relief to have the burden of the heavy books taken from her now tired arms. A soften smiled came from her light pink lips as the blonde haired boy so easily took a stack of books. placing them imply under his arm. Juliet was not as lucky as to be able to do such a thing. She was petite, had a small frame and long brown hair. Hair that for summer had went ombre. As much as the teen loved summer, she was ready for fall to come and cooler weather. As the older, blonde haired boy spoke, it rang a slight bell. Her parents were always one who kept their work life away from their family. it was for their children’s protection, the one thing they had always put first.
“Yes, I think that they do. They kind of keep there work life separate from there home life. It’s very nice to meet you.”
He could get a few ears of corn, do some steaks up on the grill, and they’d have a good little meal, and it would be healthy enough that Emily and Hotch wouldn’t kill him.
This was starting to sound like a good plan. A nice little summer dinner before the young Hotchner had to go back to school. He was honestly surprised that Emily and Hotch had done a date night with Juliet about to go back to school and them not being home that much. If it were him, he would be spending all the time he could with the family he didn’t see that often. But he did understand needing time to themselves.
Anod came from the much younger girl as they drove down the now quiet street of her neighborhood. A safe place if you would say. Where kids where able to play outside with one another. Where not many were able to get it. Something both Juliet’s mother and father wanted for their kids. Both aware of the evils that were out in the world. Evils that they both fought on a daily basis. Working for the FBI only pushed the pair into having that extra protection for their kids. Was the neighborhoods systems perfect? By no means no, because nothing in this world was perfect nor would it ever be perfect.
“That sounds great. I mean who doesn’t love a good summer meal? Maybe even after we could take a dip in the pool?”
