Juliet was turned. Her back facing away from the door as did what
little dishes she had made over the past couple days. Those days were
long and drawn out without her parents being home.  They were away
as they had been many of times as Juliet grew up, grew older. Their
jobs were important though, and Juliet knew that. She was never truly
home alone, Jack her older brother would often stop by. Annoyingly
making sure that she was eating, safe and not having unauthorized
parties. This being only her second time being left alone, alone since
she had turned sixteen. Both Emily and Aaron knew their daughter was
always very well behaved. Would never throw a party because it was not
the type of child she was.

Juliet had let out a sigh as to the quiet that feel over the house. She
honestly preferred the noise. Having the bodies around, her family. It
growing up had angered Juliet how much her parents worked. How they
were always away. Though all the work they did saved others, it felt as if
at times they were more focused on saving others than their own daughter.
They were gone for either days or even weeks at a time. At first it had been
exciting but over time it grew tiring. Over worrying that her parents would
never return, or that they would get hurt. Over the people they chased
down. They were the worst of the worst. It was a scary thought, but one
Juliet grew, or tried to ignore.

There was a click, then a beep of the security system that protected
all of the doors, windows. Something her parents had always had to keep
both them and their children. The only ones able to use it were her parents,
and her brother. So she knew it had to be one of the two. Yet she had not
had a word from her parents to when they would be coming home. Juliet
mostly figured it was Jack, checking up on her yet again. He did it out of
love. Juliet knew that was what it was, but honestly she would never do
anything that her parents would disapprove of. She again was not him,
no Juliet was the good child. Without even thinking about checking who
had entered the house. Juliet spoke with confidence, and playfulness in
her voice.

“I thought I told you I was fine Jack.
do you really find the need to check
up on me twice in one day?”
